When should I change the lubricating oil for a crane?

During the operation of the crane, lubricating oil, as a very important consumable oil, is the key to improving the efficiency of equipment operation. Some hanging friends may ask, how often do you usually change the lubricating oil? In fact, it can be judged by the following four signals.

Signal 1: Check the oxide content of lubricating oil

With continuous use, lubricating oil is exposed to the air, and the levels of oxides continue to rise, resulting in a gradual decrease in oil efficiency. If the total acid value far exceeds its initial value, then the lubricating oil needs to be replaced.

Secondly, the number of particles in the lubricating oil can be observed, which tells people about the cleanliness of the lubricating oil and the performance status of the filtration system. If there are many particles, it is also a warning signal.

Signal 2: Check moisture content

Moisture is the natural enemy of lubricants. Especially in humid environments, if the lubricating oil of TEREX spare parts is directly exposed to water vapor, it will increase the water content of the lubricating oil, which will greatly reduce its effectiveness.

If there is water in the lubricating oil, it will damage the oil film formed by the lubricating oil, deteriorate the effectiveness of the lubricating oil, accelerate the corrosion of organic acids on metals, and rust equipment. At this point, the oil is also more prone to sediment formation.

Different lubricants have different water content tolerances. Regardless of the brand of lubricant used, excessive water content is a serious warning signal. If found, change the oil immediately!

Signal 3: Check for mechanical impurities

Mechanical impurities refer to precipitates or colloidal suspensions that are insoluble in solvents such as gasoline, ethanol, and benzene in lubricating oil. Most of these impurities are such as sand and iron filings, as well as some insoluble organic metal salts brought by additives. The mechanical impurities in the lubricating base oil of TEREX spare parts are usually controlled below 0.005%. If there is a significant excess of impurities, please change the oil!

Signal 4: Check viscosity

Viscosity reflects the internal friction force of an oil product and is an indicator of its oiliness and fluidity. Without adding any functional additives, the higher the viscosity, the higher the oil film strength, and the worse the fluidity of TEREX spare parts.

By tracking the lubricating oil in a quantitative job, it is easy to detect its increasing viscosity. The increase in viscosity is directly related to lubrication and wear. Remember the most important rule, once the viscosity of the lubricating oil increases by 10%, it must be replaced immediately.
