Baotou Beiben heavy truck accessories share with you how the turbocharger is cooled and lubricated during high-speed operation

When the turbocharger on the vehicle is working, it must withstand the impact of the high-temperature and high-pressure exhaust gas from the engine. The turbine speed is generally more than tens of thousands of revolutions, up to 200000 rpm, and the temperature is as high as 900 to 1000 ℃.

How is the supercharger lubricated and cooled under such high operating temperature and speed? Now let's talk about this problem.

Moving parts of the turbocharger

The moving parts of the turbocharger, as well as the core parts – turbine impeller, compressor impeller and rotor shaft, have high-speed relative motion with the turbocharger housing of Baotou Beiben heavy truck fittings. Ordinary bearings cannot bear this speed, so the turbocharger bearing is a special floating bearing.

In fact, it is a copper ring sheathed on the shaft and housing, and there are gaps between the ring and the shaft as well as between the ring and the bearing seat. When the engine is working, under the action of oil pressure, a double oil film is formed in these parts, and the rotor actually floats on the oil film and rotates at high speed.

As the speed is extremely high and the temperature is extremely high, this part also has high requirements for lubrication and cooling.

If the supercharger is not well lubricated and cooled, it will cause abnormal wear of the bearing, greatly shorten the service life of the bearing, increase the clearance between the rotor and the housing, and part of the oil will enter the intake pipe or exhaust pipe from this position, leading to serious oil burning failure.

Poor heat dissipation will lead to oil coking or carbon deposition

In addition, poor heat dissipation will lead to oil coking or carbon deposition, which will further damage the seal and lubrication of the supercharger, aggravate the wear, and eventually lead to oil leakage or abnormal noise of the supercharger, even jamming in serious cases.

In order to cool and lubricate the turbocharger, an oil pipe is specially separated from the main oil channel of the engine lubrication system to allow the oil to enter from the oil inlet above the turbocharger intermediate and flow out from the oil port below the intermediate, so as to lubricate and cool the turbocharger rotor and bearing.

In order to ensure good lubrication and cooling effect, the flow rate of this part of oil is very fast and large. In order to cool the supercharger better, some current models have also added a set of water cooling device, which is driven by an electronic water pump. It can still work for several minutes after the engine is stopped, and continue to heat the supercharger to prevent the supercharger from overheating.

Due to the special cooling and lubrication method of the supercharger, there are also certain requirements for the use method of the supercharger of Baotou Beiben heavy truck accessories. For example, do not run at high speed immediately after the cold car starts, do not run at idle speed for a long time, do not stop the engine immediately after a long time of heavy load operation, and do not bang the accelerator before stopping the engine.

In addition, the turbocharger of Baotou Beiben heavy truck accessories must use high-quality synthetic oil to prevent poor lubrication or oil coking under high temperature. When replacing the turbocharger of Baotou Beiben heavy truck accessories, a certain amount of oil must also be injected into the turbocharger to prevent the turbocharger from burning without lubrication at the moment of engine startup.
