Drive axle differential -differential

The differential is an important part of the drive axle. Its role is:

1, distribute the torque that the main reducer has increased to the left and right half axle.

2, allow about two wheels to rotate at different speeds.

This is because: when a car is running, there are several situations that cause the rotation speed of the left and right wheels to be different, such as: when turning, the rolling distance of the left and right wheels is different; because of the difference of tire pressure, manufacturing error and uneven wear, the working radius of the tire is not equal; when driving on uneven roads, the left and right wheels are not the same. The distance between wheels is different.

If the left and right wheels are connected as a whole, it will cause the tire to drag on the ground, speed up tire wear, and increase the difficulty of driving and steering. Therefore, it is necessary to have a differential, which can automatically make the left and right wheels rotate at different speeds, as far as possible to prevent the tire from dragging.

The differential housing is connected with the driven gear of the main reducer, and the cross shaft in the housing is equipped with four (or two) planetary gears. The half shaft gear is connected to the half shaft by spline and mounted on both sides of the housing and meshed with the planetary gear. When the car is running straight, the resistance of the driving wheels on both sides is basically equal. The planetary gears in the differential only rotate with the cross shaft (not rotating), which drives the half-shaft gears of the northern Benz fittings on both sides of the Baotou to rotate at the same speed.
